Our Lessons

Our lessons are anywhere from 30 minutes to multi-day and each goes through a 4 step learning cycle:

Explore: Guide students through exploring a natural phenomenon and outdoor space

Investigate: Students make observations and use prior knowledge to explore what they already know.

Research:  Guide students through how to research the phenomenon they are exploring.

Wonder: Encourage students to ask questions about what they learned and explore next steps.

What's in the Air

Through this lesson, students will build a machine to test air quality.

Soil Sifters

Identify different types of soil, what resides in it, and some of the benefits/restrictions of different types of soil

I Wet My Plants

Students measure the effects of different amounts of water on plants (grown from seeds or starts)

WaterWorks

Students explore watershed science through hands-on activities involving design, building, and critical thinking.

Surround Sound

Parents can expect students to spend reflective alone time outside and practice listening and mapping the sounds they hear around them.

Ready to Rock

Through this lesson students will be able to identify and classify common rocks in their ecosystem by using their sense of observation.

Bugs, Bugs, Bugs!

Collect cool critters and take a closer look. Investigate how they stay alive in nature and compare the niches they fill.
